A new national survey reveals a razor-thin margin in American party alignment, with Democrats maintaining their slight lead for the 5th straight month. Across the full month of June, 44% of voters considered themselves Democrats or leaned Democratic, while 43% of voters considered themselves Republican or leaned Republican.

The Impact of "Leaners"
In the current political environment, neither party has a majority who believes it supports America's founding ideals. However, among Independents, most voters report at least leaning towards one party or the other. The narrow Democratic lead depends on these "leaners," aided by an upopular war in Iran and a polarizing president.
- The Core Base: When leaners are removed, Republicans hold a 1-point advantage, leading 36% to 35%.
- Though party ID is competative, it will mean nothing if the Traditional GOP voters, currently thouroghly disenchanted with the political landscape, do not show up to vote.

A New Trend
The recent Democratic edge is a stark contrast to last year, when Republicans led in every month but April - the month President Trump announced his tariffs.
