  • Just 51% of voters now call China an enemy of democracy, down 15 points from August of 2022.
    • In addition, 1 in 5 (20%) now consider an ally of Democracy, up 12 points.
    • Sixty-two percent (62%) of Republicans say China is an enemy of democracy, down 12 points from 2022.
    • A plurality (45%) of Democrats consider China an enemy of democracy, down 22 points from 2022.
  • Eight in 10 voters (78%) say China's recent purchases of large amounts of U.S. farmland it is at least a Somewhat Serious national security threat.
    • This includes a strong plurality (42%) who say it is a Very Serious threat.
    • Eighty-three percent (83%) of Republicans and 76% of Democrats consider it a serious threat.
    • While still a majority (59%), government employees are the least likely to consider China's purchases a serious threat.
  • A plurality of voters (29%) say that China supports Iran in the current war with the U.S., while another 24% say it supports the U.S.
    • One in 5 (20%) say it supports neither, while 26% are not sure.
    • Republican voters believe China supports Iran by a 36% to 25% margin.
    • Democrats are evenly divided, with 26% saying China supports Iran and 24% saying it supports the U.S.
    • About 1 in 5 from each party believe China supports neither country.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 18-19, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
