  • Perceptions of American society continue to be pessimistic, as just 48% of voters say that it is generally Fair and Decent.
    • Still, this is up 9 points from January.
    • Meanwhile, 40% say American society is Unfair and Discriminatory, which is an improvement from the 48% who said the same in January.
    • Republicans say our society is Fair and Decent by a 69% to 22% margin.
    • Democrats' views have improved slightly since January. Now, 32% say it's fair and decent (compared to 19% in January), and 57% say American society is Unfair and Discriminatory (compared to 71% previously).
  • About half of voters (48%) also believe that America's best days are still to come.
    • That is down 5 points from 2 months ago and down 9 points from a peak of 57% in November 2024.
    • One third (35%) disagree and say that America's best days have come and gone, up 6 points from 2 months ago.
    • Republicans believe the best days are still to come by a 61% to 27% margin.
    • Democrats are split: 41% believe the best days are still to come, while 42% say those days have come and gone.
  • Still, despite the pessimism, 8 in 10 voters (79%) say that they are proud to be an American.
    • This is down 2 points from 2 months ago and down 6 points from November 2025.
    • Just 11% say they are not proud to be an American, up 3 points from 2 months ago.
    • An astounding 93% of Republicans are proud to be an American, along with two-thirds (68%) of Democrats.
    • The least enthusiastic group (voters preferring AOC-type policies) still maintains a solid majority (62%) who are proud to be American.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, April 6-7, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
