  • Voters are divided on whether churches and other religious organizations should have tax exempt status: 42% say Yes, and 43% say No.
    • More than half (57%) of Republicans and only 32% Democrats say religious organizations should be tax exempt.
    • The numbers flip along party lines-only 28% of Republicans say the organizations should not have tax exempt status, and 55% of Democrats say the same.
    • Most Atheist voters (83%) do not think religious organizations should have tax exempt status.
  • If churches explicitly endorse political parties or candidates as part of their religious services, 57% say they should lose their tax exempt status.
    • Almost half of Republicans (47%) and even more Democrats (65%) agree that tax exempt status should be removed.
