A low 29% of registered voters approve of how President Trump is handling Inflation. On the top issues of the day, the president's numbers continue to move downward, with several issues hitting their lowest approval ratings of his second term.
Economic Concerns Drive Disapproval
The 29% approval rating on Inflation is down 1 point from a month ago and represents a steep 19-point drop from the beginning of his second term.
The Economy, which is usually a very important issue for voters, mirrors this trend: just 36% approve of the way President Trump is handling it, down 1 point from May and down 11 points from the start of his second term. A solid majority (64%) disapprove of his handling of the Economy, including 48% who "Strongly Disapprove."
National Security and Immigration
Amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, 48% approve of Trump's handling of National Security. This rating continues to be the lowest of his second term, tying with the numbers recorded in May and April, and is down 3 points from when we began measuring the issue last August. Half of voters (49%) disapprove of his handling of National Security.
Immigration, another important issue, currently sits at a 46% approval rating for the president. This represents a 2-point drop from May. About half (52%) disapprove of his handling of Immigration, which includes 42% who "Strongly Disapprove."
Healthcare Priorities
Regarding Healthcare, just 38% approve of Trump's handling of the issue. This is down 1 point from May, tying with the rating he received last November as the lowest of his second term. A majority (58%) disapprove of Trump's handling of healthcare, including 44% who "Strongly Disapprove."
Interestingly, only 3% recently rated Healthcare as the most important issue in an open-ended question last week, while 11% said it was most important compared to other categories 2 weeks ago.
The Partisan Divide
Because the Republican Party holds the White House, large majorities of Republicans approve of President Trump's handling of every issue, whereas Democrats largely disapprove. For example:
- Immigration: 82% of Republicans approve of Trump's handling of the issue, but 81% of Democrats disapprove.
- National Security: 83% of Republicans approve of the president's performance, while 80% of Democrats disapprove.
