  • Two-thirds (67%) of voters favor recent cell phone bans in schools.
  • However, among those with school aged kids, more than half (52%) would prefer to send their children to schools where cell phones are allowed.
  • If cell phones are banned, most (59%) say those bans should apply any time that students are in class.
  • Vast majorities (83%) of voters believe that students should be able to have phones in school once they are in high school, even if they are not allowed to use them in class.
  • The overwhelming majority (69%) of voters believe that parents should have a choice of schools for their children, including some that allow students to carry cell phones and others that ban them.

 


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen July 16, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
