The last time a majority of voters believed even one of the two major parties supported America's founding ideals*, the calendar said 2025. Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters believed Republicans embraced America's founding ideals in December of 2025, when 44% said Democrats did. On the other hand, 51% of voters said Democrats supported America's founding ideals in September of 2025, but just 48% said Republicans did.

Today, 48% of voters say Republicans support America's founding ideals, while 41% disagree, and 46% believe Democrats do. Again, 41% disagree.

This fundemental lack of trust is underscored by the fact that more than 70% of each party believes the opposing party actively opposes America's founding ideals.

Unsurprisingly, the extreme wings of each party poll worse than the party as a whole. Just 40% believe Progressive Democrats support America's founding ideals (40% disagree), and 38% say the same of MAGA Republicans. Nearly half (48%) of voters say MAGA Republicans oppose America's founding ideals.

In fact, just 49% of Traditional GOP voters are convinced MAGA Republicans support America's founding principles. More than a third (36%) believe they do not, and 14% are not sure.

*This same survey showed that 75% believe it is fair to say that America was founded on the ideals of Freedom, Equality, and Self-Governance.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 5-6, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
