  • Forty-nine percent (49%) of young voters (under 35) have a favorable opinion of socialism, while 37% say the opposite.
    • However, just 19% of these younger voters think socialism involves Government or Collective control of financial assets.
    • Among those over 65, just 21% have a favorable view of Socialism and 63% offer an unfavorable opinion.
  • Thirty-eight percent (38%) of men have a favorable opinion of socialism along with 32% of women.
    • On capitalism, 64% of men offer a favorable opinion while women are evenly divided (39% favorable, 42% unfavorable).
    • A free market economy is viewed favorably by 73% of men and 56% of women.
    • In fact, a majority of voters in every measured Demographic group have a favorable opinion of a free market economy.
  • On a partisan basis, 55% of Democrats have a favorable opinion of socialism, while 67% of Republicans hold a negative view.
    • Two-thirds (67%) of Republicans have a favorable opinion of capitalism, while Democrats are more divided (40% favorable, 48% unfavorable).
    • Among those who prefer AOC-like policies, 70% like socialism. Those who prefer more traditional Democratic policies are evenly divided (36% favorable, 38% unfavorable).
    • Among those who prefer Trump-like policies, 24% offer a favorable opinion of socialism.
    • Most Republicans (70%) and Democrats (61%) have a favorable opinion of a free market economy.
  • It is important to note that voters no longer see socialism, capitalism, and free markets as mutually exclusive.

 


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, December 3-4, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
