  • Just 11% of voters say that Earth Day is our nation's most important holiday, placing it lowest on the list.
    • More voters (36%) say it is the least important, while 45% say Earth Day is somewhere in between.
    • Interestingly, among voters who talk politics every or nearly every day, 34% say it's the most important holiday.
  • A majority of voters (55%) know Earth Day is celebrated in April.
    • Just 13% say it is celebrated in May, and 7% say it is in June.
    • Although Earth Day has been a holiday every April 22 since 1970, one quarter (26%) of voters are not sure when Earth Day is celebrated.
  • Only 19% say they do something special to celebrate Earth Day.
    • Three quarters (75%) of voters do not do anything special to celebrate the holiday.
    • One third (33%) of voters under age 35 celebrate Earth Day, and only about 10% of voters who are 55 or older celebrate the holiday.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, April 20-21, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
