In any given area, the amount of people per square mile provide a good general indication of the how inhabitants will identify politically. Simply put, areas of high popuation density* are more likely to skew Democratic, while low density areas skew Republican. The different environments produce drastically different outlooks on life in the United States and different opinion on how to handle the unique challenges in each community.
Significantly, a lot more people are living in these low-population-density zip codes than in the high-density alternative.
High population density: > 10,000 people/sq. mile
Medium population density: 1,000>10,000 people/sq. mile
Low population density: <1,000 people/sq. mile
This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 9,256 registered voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen over the month of March 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 1 point.
