When told the actual numbers- that the Republican budget increases spending on Medicaid by 24% from the amount spent today, two-thirds of voters (67%) say spending should remain the same as that Republican plan or be reduced. This includes 35% who say the same, 23% who say spending growth should be reduced, and 9% who say that spending should be cut from current levels.

Only 21% of American voters want more spending on Medicaid than is currently called for in the Republican budget. In fact, there is stronger support (23%) for even less spending than called for.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen April 21-22, 2025  Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
