  • One third (34%) of voters favor making Greenland a part of the U.S., with 11% Strongly Favoring.
    • Forty-four percent (44%) oppose making Greenland a part of the United States, with 31% Strongly Opposed.
    • The views are similar to views in January 2025 where 37% favored and 41% opposed.
    • More Republicans (55%) than Democrats (19%) favor acquiring Greenland.
    • Even more (66%) of voters who favor Trump policies favor making Greenland part of the U.S.
  • A large majority (74%) oppose the idea of sending U.S. troops to take Greenland by force.
    • Only 18% favor the idea.
    • Opinions have not changed much from last January 2025 when 16% favored and 76% opposed the idea.
    • By a 57% to 29% margin, Republicans oppose sending U.S. troops to take Greenland by force.
    • An overwhelming majority (88%) of Democrats also oppose the idea.
    • Only 50% of voters who favor Trump policies oppose sending U.S. troops to Greenland.
  • One quarter (25%) of voters have been following news stories about President Trump's desire to make Greenland part of U.S. territory Very Closely.
    • As this story is drawing a lot of interest, another 33% have been following Somewhat Closely.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, January 7-8, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
