Thirty-four percent (34%) of voters say President-elect Trump should pardon those convicted in cases related to the events of January 6, 2021. A Napolitan News national survey found that 46% disagree. This is on par with those who favored President Biden's pardon of his son Hunter Biden, as well as the potential pardon of Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Just 27% of voters have a favorable view of the January 6 protesters, and 62% have an unfavorable opinion. Among those who favor Trump like policies, 44% have a favorable opinion, while 38% have an unfavorable opinion.
Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters could correctly define what happened on January 6, 2021 in response to an open ended question. Some of those responses are below:
1. The insurrection at the Capitol thanks to Donald Trump
2. Trump incited an insurrection and a mob of people stormed the Capitol.
3. It was an invasion of the government over frauded elections.
4. People entered the capital illegally and caused damage to people and property.
5. Proud boys and other trump enthusiasts stormed the capital in hopes of overturning the election results.
6. Uprising of Trump supporters broke into and raided the Capitol
7. Democrats set it up to make republicans look bad
8. FBI agents initiated the capture of US Congress.
9. An uprising because of Biden getting in to office
10. Republican hoolagans tried to stop the smooth transition of power
The Napolitan News Service surveys of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen December 16-17, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
