  • Thirty-nine percent (39%) now report feeling at least Some effect from the government shutdown.
    • That includes 12% who say it has affected their lives A Lot, and 27% who say it has affected them Some.
    • Both of those numbers are new highs.
    • On October 1st, when the shutdown began, just 6% claimed to be affected A Lot, while 17% said it affected their life in Some way.
  • The number of voters aware of the partial shutdown has also gone up.
    • Now, 85% are aware of the shutdown, up 5 points from last week and another new high.
    • More people (35%) are also following the news stories about the shutdown Very Closely. That is up 11 points since last week.
  • Thirty-nine percent (39%) of registered voters say the Republicans are primarily responsible for the shutdown, while 32% blame the Democrats.
    • The number blaming Republicans is up 3 points from last week, while the number blaming Democrats is 2 points lower.
    • One quarter (24%) say both parties play an equal role.
    • Not surprisingly, Democrats say Republicans are to blame by a 59% to 18% margin.
    • In contrast, Republicans blame Democrats by a 50% to 23% margin.
    • By a 2 to 1 margin (49% to 24%), government workers* say the Republicans are responsible for the shutdown.
* Note that our sample of government employees also includes state and local employees.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 27-28, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
