Forty-three percent (43%) of voters say the federal layoffs have gone too far. A Napolitan News survey found that 38% disagree. That includes 22% who say the layoffs have not gone far enough and 16% who think the number of layoffs has been about right.
Sixty percent (60%) of Republicans think there has been either not enough, or about the right number of employees laid off. Only 19% of Republicans say there have been too many.
Seventy percent (70%) say there have been too many. Only 15% of Democrats say it has not been enough or has been about right.
Even after the current layoffs, most voters (53%) favor requiring every agency to reduce its payroll by 1% a year for a decade. Just 31% are opposed.
This Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen February 27-28, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
