  • Half (50%) of voters favor a proposal made to permanently ban people who enter the U.S. illegally from applying for asylum, green cards, or citizenship.
    • One quarter (26%) Strongly Favor it.
    • Forty-five percent (45%) oppose such a ban, with 25% Strongly Opposed.
    • Not surprisingly, Democrats oppose the proposal by a 69% to 25% margin.
    • Three quarters (75%) of Republicans favor the proposal, and only 21% oppose it.
  • A majority (56%) say such a ban would likely significantly reduce illegal immigration.
    • Just 35% say that it's not likely that a ban like this would reduce illegal immigration.
    • Nine percent (9%) are Not Sure.
    • More Republicans (78%) than Democrats (35%) say a ban like this would significantly reduce illegal immigration.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, January 14-15, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
