A Napolitan News survey found that at least 57% of voters in every state and congressional district believe legal immigration is good for Americans and illegal immigration is bad. Though the extremes on both ends of the spectrum push the public debate toward an all-or-nothing view of immigration, the idea that both legal and illegal immigration is bad, or that both are good is clearly not how the majority of the American public feels.
Even among the most extreme congressional districts on this question (DC-AL, MA-07, WA-07) only 26% of voters say that both legal and illegal immigration is good, compared to the national average of 16%.
That both illegal and legal immigration are bad is even less popular, garnering at it's highest 17% in KY-05.
The stage and congressional district results were provided by RMG's Precision Politics Geo-Targeting Application. This product collects rich demographic information from a large sample of voters. It then determines geo-targeted results using regression and post-stratification, a statistical technique that combines survey responses with census data.
