  • When it comes to border security and immigration issues, 52% say that President Donald Trump has a better approach than Joe Biden did.
    • One third (33%) say Biden had a better approach, and 15% are Not Sure.
    • Opinions are sharply divided along party lines: 90% of Republicans say Trump's approach is better, and 63% of Democrats say Biden's is better.
    • Opinions have changed slightly since last November when 31% said Biden's approach was better and 55% preferred Trump's approach.
    • A plurality (48%) of voters who live in high-density areas say Biden had a better approach.
    • Similarly, a plurality (41%) of postgraduates also side with Biden.
  • Two thirds (66%) of voters believe that legal immigration is good, while illegal immigration is bad.
    • This includes strong majorities of Republicans (78%) and Democrats (55%).
    • Another 19% consider legal and illegal immigration good.
    • Just 9% of voters consider legal (and illegal) immigration bad.
    • The total number of voters saying legal immigration is good for the United States (85%) has been steady for decades.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, February 4-5, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
