  • More than half (53%) of voters say that people from anywhere in the world should be allowed to attend college in the United States.
    • One third (32%) say people from some countries should be banned from attending college in the United States.
    • Democrats say people from anywhere should be allowed to attend by a 68% to 19% margin.
    • Republicans favor bans for some countries by a 47% to 41% margin.
    • Voters making less than $35,000 annually are the least likely to support people coming to school from anywhere, with just 40% in favor.
  • Among voters who agree that people from certain countries should be banned from attending college, voters most want to see bans placed on Iran (71%), Afghanistan (71%), and Somalia (65%).
    • Among this group, Russia (58%) and China (57%) also had majorities in favor of such a ban.
    • Fewer voters (around 20%) support banning people from England, Canada, and France from attending U.S. colleges.
    • Voters had similar views about travel bans from these countries.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, December 8-9, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
