62% See Serious Border Action, but 40% Say Deportations Have Gone Too Far

  • Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters say the government is serious about trying to secure the border.
    • This number is the same as April, but down 5 points from February.
    • Twenty-three percent (23%) say the government is not seriously trying, and 15% are not sure.
    • Under President Biden, just 25% felt the government was seriously trying to secure the border.
  • Just 51% favor the Trump Administration's efforts to deport illegal immigrants.
    • This is down 6 points from April, but the same as February.
    • Meanwhile, 41% oppose the efforts -- the same as April but down 5 points from February.
    • These numbers include 31% who Strongly Favor the efforts and 24% who Strongly Oppose them.
    • A large majority (85%) of Republicans favor the efforts, while 68% of Democrats oppose them.
  • Forty percent (40%) of voters say the number of deportations has Gone Too Far, down 3 points from April and down 8 points from February's high of 48%.
    • Those who disagree say that the number of deportations has Not Gone Far Enough (27%) or has been About Right (24%).
    • A plurality (45%) of Republicans claim deportations have Not Gone Far Enough, while 36% say they have been About Right and only 13% say they have Gone Too Far.
    • Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Democrats say the deportations have Gone Too Far, while only 13% say Not Far Enough, and 11% say About Right.
  • In all talks about immigration, it is important to remember that 65% of voters say legal is good and illegal is bad.
    • Another 15% say legal and illegal immigration are good for the United States, while just 11% say both legal and illegal immigration are bad.
    • These views have been fairly consistent over the past several years.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, June 1-2, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
