  • Almost 250 years after the founding of America, most (58%) citizens still see a conflict between Freedom and Equality.
  • When asked to pick which is more important, 66% say Freedom.
    • Eighty-one percent (81%) of Republicans feel that Freedom is more important than Equality, while 52% of Democrats feel the same.
  • Twenty-eight (28%) of voters would choose Equality.
    • Of note, only 14% of Republicans would choose Equality, in contrast to 44% of Democrats.
  • There is also a significant, though less stark, gender divide.
    • Seventy-three (73%) of Men and 60% of Women believe Freedom is more important.
    • Only 23% of Men and 33% of Women believe that Equality is more important.



This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, December 17-18, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
