As President Trump visits China this week, he says the U.S. does not need China's help with the situation in Iran.

  • Still, 46% of voters say it is Very Important for President Trump to discuss "military action in other countries" on his visit.
    • A majority (56%) of Republicans say it is Very Important, along with 37% of Democrats.
    • Overall, 80% of voters say discussing foreign military action is at least Somewhat Important.
    • Just 13% say it is not important.
  • The only topic voters place a higher priority on discussing is human rights; 51% say it is Very Important.
    • A narrow majority of Republicans (52%) and Democrats (53%) say it is Very Important.
    • Overall, 79% of voters say discussing human rights is at least Somewhat Important while on this trip.
    • Just 12% say it is not important.
  • Meanwhile, just 47% of voters now say that China is an enemy, a new low.
    • Still, just 11% consider it an ally, while 1 in 4 (24%) say it is neither.
    • GOP voters say China is an enemy by a margin of 57% to 12%.
    • Democrats agree by a smaller margin, 42% to 11%.
    • Just 35% of government employees consider China an enemy, while 14% consider it an ally and 28% say it is neither.
    • A large portion (23%) are not sure.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 11-12, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
