  • This week, economic optimism continued downward, as 27% of registered voters rate the economy as Good or Excellent, down 2 points from 2 weeks ago, and down 4 points from a month ago.
    • Thirty-eight percent (38%) rate the economy as Poor, up 3 points from 2 weeks ago.
    • A plurality of Republicans (40%) say the economy is Good or Excellent, down a whopping 14 points from 2 weeks ago.
    • This week, 17% of Republican voters say the economy is Poor. This is up 6 points from 2 weeks ago.
    • Democratic voters' views are pretty pessimistic: only 16% say the economy is Good or Excellent, while 59% say it is Poor.
  • Only 23% of voters say the economy is getting better, down 6 points from 2 weeks ago.
    • More than half (53%) say the economy is getting worse, up 2 points from 2 weeks ago.
    • Forty percent (40%) of Republicans say it is getting better (down 16 points from 2 weeks ago), and 30% say it is getting worse.
    • Even more pessimistic, 77% of Democrats say the economy is getting worse, and just 9% say it is getting better.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, March 16-17, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
