The race for the White House remains stable and close in advance of next week's scheduled debate. The latest Napolitan News National Survey shows Kamala Harris at 50% and Donald Trump at 48% (including leaners). This is the fifth straight week where both candidates have been within two points of 49%.

Among voters with a postgraduate degree, Harris leads by 21 points. However, among those with a bachelor's degree, the Democratic nominee leads by just six points. Trump is up four among those without a college degree. As is often the case, this means that the gap between those with a postgraduate degree and those a bachelors degree is bigger than the gap between those with a bachelors degree and no degree.

Harris leads among voters who talk politics most days or every day. Trump leads among those who discuss politics once a week or less.

Given the closeness of the race, the upcoming debate could be more significant than most debates. However, just 44% of voters know the debate is scheduled for next week. Only 26% know it is scheduled AND are definitely planning to watch.

This Napolitan News Service survey of 2,701 Likely Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on September 3-5, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc.
