  • Forty-six percent (46%) of voters say that hiring illegal immigrants lowers wages for working-class Americans, while 35% disagree.
    • Republicans say it does lower wages by a 69% to 15% margin.
    • Democrats disagree and say it does not by a 53% to 26% margin.
  • However, voters remain evenly divided on whether preventing illegal immigrants from getting jobs would increase finances for working-class Americans.
    • Forty-percent (40%) of voters say it would increase finances, including a majority (60%) of Republicans.
    • Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters say it would not increase finances, including a majority (54%) of Democrats.
  • Voters are similarly divided on whether preventing illegal immigration would decrease housing costs for working-class Americans.
    • Again, 40% of voters say it would lower housing costs, while 38% disagree.
    • The party breakdown is nearly identical to the numbers found about increasing finances for working class Americans.
  • On each question here, those with postgraduate degrees had sharply different opinions than those who were not postgraduates.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, February 4-5, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
