As Republicans are seeking to pass a reconciliation act, the latest Napolitan News survey shows that a plurality of voters (39%) have no opinion on the matter. Another 35% only have soft opinions on the subject.
Overall, 32% favor the legislation, and 30% oppose it. Of those with an opinion, the typical partisan divide is found on this question. This likely reflects some awareness that Republicans control Congress at this time.
Earlier research showed that voters have little awareness of what the reconciliation process is. Unlike most bills, a reconciliation bill only needs a simple majority to pass in the Senate. This gives the controlling party more ability to affect laws that affect spending and revenue.
The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen April 2-3, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
