  • When it comes to immigration and border security, (55%) of voters prefer Donald Trump's approach over Joe Biden's, while 31% disagree.
    • Unsurprisingly, nearly 9 in 10 (89%) Republicans favor Trump's approach.
    • While a significant majority of Democrats (61%) prefer Biden's approach, more than 1 in 5 Democrats (22%) prefer Trump's approach.
    • Another 17% of Democrats aren't sure.
  • A majority (52%) who talk politics every day prefer Biden's approach. This group frequently feels differently than voters on issues.
  • Overall, 51% of Americans say it is good for the country that more immigrants left the country than entered this year.
    • One third (33%) disagree.
    • Again, an overwhelming 77% of Republicans say it is at least Somewhat Good. Just 9% say it was bad.
    • And, once again, 58% of Democrats say it was bad for the country that more immigrants left than entered this year.
    • However, a significant portion of Democrats (27%) say it was good for the country.
  • All of these numbers are consistent with the fact that, for decades, large majorities of Americans have said legal immigration is good, while illegal immigration is bad.
    • Currently, 64% hold that view, while another 14% say all immigration (legal and illegal) is good.
    • As noted in a recent story on voter attitudes towards ICE, voters support stopping illegal immigration. The discord is over the methods used to achieve this goal.
