  • Despite the tragedy of the Minneapolis shooting, voters views on deportation and immigration remain unaffected.
    • Currently, 40% say that deportations have Gone Too Far, while 27% disagree, and 24% say they have been About Right.
    • That is nearly identical to December, which reached a high of 42% saying deportations have Gone Too Far. Again, 27% disagreed, while 22% said they had been About Right.
  • A majority (54%) of voters who prefer Trump-like policies say they have Not Gone Far Enough, with just 5% saying they've Gone Too Far and 38% saying they've been About Right.
    • Those who prefer Traditional Republican policies are split: 32% say they have Not Gone Far Enough, while 31% disagree, and 31% say they've been About Right.
  • Support for deportation of immigrants is at 59%, with 36% opposed.*
    • This is 7 points higher than Decembers low of 52%, and back near where support has been for most of the year.
    • Republicans support the efforts by an 88% to 11% margin.
    • Democrats take the opposite stance and oppose it by a 66% to 29% margin.
  • And, relatively unchanged for decades, 79% say legal immigration is good for the United States.
    • Nearly two thirds (64%) of voters say legal immigration is good, while illegal is bad. Another 15% say legal AND illegal is good.
    • Just 12% of voters consider legal immigration bad for the country.

*It is important to note the support for deportation does not mean support for the methods employed in achieving it.
