  • While immigration is a thorny issue, voters are actually very clear about who they think should be deported.
    • Large majorities at least Somewhat Favor deporting those who have committed crimes (80%) or failed to show up for immigration hearings (68%).
    • This includes majorities of both Republicans and Democrats.
  • Even among the 17% of voters who believe that all immigration, both legal and illegal, is good for the country, there is strong support for deporting those who have committed crimes.
    • Nearly 7 in 10 (69%) of this group favor deporting illegal immigrants who have commited a crime.
  • A smaller majority (54%) favors deporting those who came in the last few years.
    • By a 50% to 36% margin, voters also favor deporting those who are unemployed.
    • Republicans favor deporting both groups. Democrats are opposed.
  • Majorities oppose deporting those who have been here more than a decade and have been upstanding members of their communities (54%), were brought here as children by their parents (56%), or are married to American citizens (56%).
    • Republicans favor deporting each of these groups, while Democrats are opposed.

 


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 13-14, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1
