  • While the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti has voters are calling for the removal of ICE from Minnesota, it doesn't seem to have affected voters overall perception of immigration.
    • Both before and after the shooting of Pretti, 52% of voters said they favored the Trump Administration's deportation efforts to remove illegal immigrants.
    • That matches the low since Trump has returned to office.
    • Currently, 42% say they oppose the administration's efforts to deport illegal immigrants.
    • Republicans support the efforts by a margin of 88% to 6%, wihle Democrats oppose them by a margin of 77% to 20%.
  • Similarly, approval for ICE stayed stagnant at 47%, again matching a low hit just before the Pretti shooting. Another 47% disapprove.
    • Again, the breakdown is essentially along party lines.
  • Finally, when asked about the number of immigrants deported, 43% say they have Gone Too Far, while 26% say Not Far Enough, and 23% say they have been About Right.
    • Ultimately, it seems voters have become slightly less sure on each side amidst the chaos; the number of voters saying they have Gone Too Far and Not Far enough has gone slightly down, and 8% now report being Not Sure, up 5 points.

Most recent data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, January 26, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
